Procorns at IV The corncalc

Stargazer

There is a genetic mutation in corn snakes called stargazing which effects the motor function of the animal. These gene works in the same way as any of the other common genes we know now such as Amel and Anery. It is simple recessive and therefore can be carried by an animal but show no signs.

The Stargazer gene was originally found in Sunkissed lines but has unfortunately been outcrossed and hidden by many big breeders. I don't intend to say much more than this on the origins but if you would like to find out more then visit this link:

Stargazing discussion at The Source

Chuck and Connie have done a lot to prove out this gene and help us understand it more.

Unfortunately this gene has made its way to Europe. It has been found in some Sunkissed lines.

As a breeder who cares about the hobby and the animals we have decided that we will not offer any Sunkissed animals for sale until we have proven that our lines are clear of this gene. This will take some time but you can rest assured that any Sunkissed or het Sunkissed animal purchased from procorns will be proven gazer free.

We will use this page to show our sunkissed lines and their status. We will list only the animals we know that are gazer free. As of now none of our animals are tested. We will start testing properly in 2011.

If you have any questions and Stargazer then please get in touch.
